GCSE Art and Design include courses in a variety of genres including Art, Craft and Design, Fine Art, Graphic Communication, Textile Design, 3D Design and Photography. The flexibility of its subject design means you can tailor your course to suit your interests and the strengths of the school.
There is a lot of overlap between this class and GCSE Art, but the exams are different. GCSE Art mainly assesses the component (portfolio) completed during the course of study, but the DT requires the completion of a written dissertation.
If you want to develop in the field of civil engineering, architecture, engineering and other fields in the future, DT subjects will be more helpful. It shows that you can identify and solve problems by designing and manufacturing products.
This subject also has overlap with GCSE Mathematics as it involves very precise 3D measurements and can enhance both subject areas.
